The system permits all project participants – clients, supervisors, vendors and executives – to view overall and site specific progress, forecasts and baseline plan comparisons, enabling the proponent to make his or her own decisions about performance on an up to the minute real time basis. There is also a feature for uploading comments, photos and documents, and downloading reports. Also in development is the material planning, tracking and control module (already in trial operation).
The system also uses basic electronic document management to compile as-built documentation, such as C-Modules, as the project is progressing. One of the differentiating features of this system is its simplicity and low bandwidth requirement. The low internet resource demand is necessary for projects in Africa where internet access is currently intermittent and slow.
The LIKUSASA PROJECT ASSISTANT will streamline the project management process, standardise on reporting, and allow quick and easy, centralised access to all project site builds, thus enabling enhanced communication between project participants. It is expected to be rolled out to all projects over the next two months.
