During December 2011, Lemcon-Likusasa began trialing the concept of 3G Data Offloading using the UAxes solution from NOTAVA. NOTAVA are a specialist provider of software to network operators based in Finland. Their uAxes solution is a policy based approach to 3G data offloading whereby the 3G network operator decides when and where to off-load thereby promoting customer loyalty, improving the overall quality of service, and deferring investment in additional network data capacity. For the user, the experience is seamless once he has downloaded the necessary client software.
Proof of concept trials are underway with two international operators in Africa, and with an operator in the Philippines. Initial results are very positive and additional information will be made available as the trials proceed.
